John Dewey was the American "father of education".
He developed a plethora of ideas and concepts ranging from psychology to
education to play. Dewey's view on play was that if it was apart
from work, play was foolishness, and may be demoralizing, and may stifle
educational growth and if it is pursued for its own sake may lead to irresponsible
behavior.
I find his view in experience rather interesting.
Experience for Dewey was a key, for he believed that constant interaction
of humans with their environment was essential for growth, thought, social
progress, and personal development. John Dewey was an extraordinary
man who's beliefs affected a variety of different fields.
